My relationship with World of Warcraft

So... they might have finally driven me away for good this time. They've done so much to Warriors that I just don't care for, and well... that's all I play. I don't really want to make another toon of another class... I literally have MONTHS of my life tied up in this toon and I just can't justify another ya know? I don't know, I need to make my decisiont his month, before Cataclysm comes out

Jet-Powered 'Rocket Man' Flies Loop the Loops

I want one. Seriously, that's all I have to say. I want one.

"Swiss adventurer Yves Rossy jumped from a hot-air balloon Friday and completed two aerial loops using just his custom-made jet-propelled wingsuit -- the first time such maneuvers have been performed.

It was just the latest daredevil stunt by the former fighter pilot who hopes one day to fly through the Grand Canyon.

Rossy, 51, launched himself from a replica of the Breitling Orbiter -- the first balloon to be piloted nonstop around the world in 1999 -- at an altitude of 7,874 feet (2,400 meters) near Lake Geneva. Then he fired up the jets on his new -- smaller and sleeker -- wingsuit to perform the loopings before landing safely with a parachute." See the rest HERE

FCC warns of looming mobile spectrum crunch

Everytime I turn around, they are freaking out about the spectrum for tv, radio, phones, etc. Maybe in a world where there is little of the spectrum left for use... people will start making better products, and instead of toting around 2-3 devices that are eating up singals (and ip's but don't get me started on that, that's an entirely different gripe of mine) people will start carring 1 and then perhaps we will also see content providers become more efficient when it comes to the size of their data instead of making things bigger and bulkier when it comes to file size.

"Can wireless carriers' mobile broadband networks keep pace with the fast-growing demand for mobile data? Maybe not. The Federal Communication Commission predicts a "looming spectrum crunch" in a recently published paper, Mobile Broadband: The Benefits of Additional Spectrum.

According to FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski, "The explosive growth in mobile communications is outpacing our ability to keep up. If we don't act to update our spectrum policies for the 21st century, we're going to run into a wall -- a spectrum crunch -- that will stifle American innovation and economic growth and cost us the opportunity to lead the world in mobile communications."" Google Instant goes mobile

How about... Google Instant goes away! Within minutes of this going live for pc's I saw it and immediately disabled it. I find it quite annoying, does anyone else?

"A beta version of Google Instant is now available on many U.S. iPhone and Android mobile devices.

According to the Google Blog, the Instant search option is presently on Android 2.2 devices, as well as iPhones and iPods running on iOS 4. As of right now, Google Instant is only available in English, although Google (Google) plans on adding more languages and bringing the service to other countries and devices.

In order to test out Instant's latest incarnation, one must tap the "turn on" link beneath the search box while visiting Google.com on a mobile device. Users are advised to wait for a bit and refresh the page if the "turn on" option isn't immediately visible." See the rest HERE

Sharp to launch 3-D phones

Well, while some people might say cool... first I say this is annoying, second phones have been doing this in Japan (and probably China) for over a year now.

"Movies in 3-D. Video games in 3-D. Television in 3-D. Now, get ready for your phone's screen to broadcast images in three dimensions. Sharp Electronics will debut a pair of handsets that render 3-D images without the need for glasses." See the rest HERE

Follow Up Failure

Again, another very well writen and very true piece. Not much to comment on as it pretty much speaks my mind.

"In television, with a successful creation usually comes the chance to create something else. As a successful series runs on longer and longer, the network that carries it will sometimes give the creator of the hit an opportunity to create a new show. And then, because the studio doesn't quite trust the creator, they'll proceed to engage in Executive Meddling until the new show dies a horrible death. This can be done by moving the show around in the schedule so often that no one can find it; issuing demands on the direction and content of the show to the creator that introduce things the fans hate; demanding that the new show be more and more like the old show; or even pre-emptively cancelling a show before it has a chance to actually generate an audience. In some cases, the show actually ends up being better than the original and the network buries it to avoid killing the existing cash cow." See the rest HERE

Screwed By The Network make a to do

This is well written and 100% accurate. Go checki it out. I've seen good show after good show die this way.

"

"Starting now on Channel Four is a brand new show that we paid a ridiculous amount of money for which we'll launch in a blaze of publicity, and after a few weeks we'll get bored of it and move it around the schedule where no-one can find it, then we'll brand it a flop, take it off the air for six months, then reluctantly put it back on at three in the morning."
Dead Ringers, explaining this Trope in action.

The prototypical network executive's time revolves not around nurturing talent for the benefit of all, but around making himself look competent. That means appearing responsible for every success and innocent of every failing that the network might have, irrespective of whether this was actually the case. Note that the people that the executive is really trying to convince are his fellow Execs that are, to a man, also having the exact same neurotic crisis day in and day out. Nevertheless, the need to keep their channels populated with new shows means that their commissioning bodies will keep putting forward all kinds of shows that may or may not appeal to the network executives' sensibilities." My letter to AMC suggestiong they purchase Caprica

First, I know the title says "suggestiong" but if I fix it, then the link to this post changes, making currently 22 tweets pointing to the bit.ly link that points here no longer work. So pretend it says

My letter to AMC suggesting they purchase Caprica.

"As I'm sure your company should know, SyFy networks has canceled Caprica. There are many many fans that were saddened by this and we are preparing to order 1400-3500$ worth of apples to send to SyFy, similar to the campaign with peanuts to save Jericho a few seasons back on a similar network. A core group of us fans have realized that Caprica has the similar themes and is of the same quality of shows on your network, such as Mad Men. We ask you to pass the suggestion to purchase the rights to, and create more episode of, Caprica on up the line in your company. We are very dedicated fans that not only tune in religiously to watch our program but also buy the show on DVD as well as on iTunes when it is made available for sale. We feel that your company would benefit by purchasing the rights to this show and producing more episodes by gaining an already strong fan-base and likely considerably adding to the viewers with the existing demographic that tunes in to your network's programs. Thank you for your time, and keep making quality programming."
