Indiana: Critical Castle Doctrine and Fourth Amendment Protection Legislation Before Governor Mitch Daniels

Contact Governor Daniels TODAY, Respectfully Urging Him to Sign Senate Bill 1 into Law before its March 20 Deadline

After receiving approval from both chambers of the Indiana General Assembly, Senate Bill 1 reached Governor Mitch Daniels’ desk on March 14. Governor Daniels has seven days by law, to either sign or veto the legislation, which makes his deadline for action on this crucial self-defense reform legislation this Tuesday, March 20. Your support for this legislation is absolutely necessary.  Contact the Governor’s office TODAY and urge him to sign SB 1 into law.  It is vital that he hear from every freedom-loving Hoosier who supports this common-sense legislation, which simply restores the Fourth Amendment rights of Indiana Citizens.
Enactment of SB 1 is necessary after Hoosiers’ civil liberties were undermined by last year’s state Supreme Court decision, Barnes v. State of Indiana.  SB 1 reverses this activist court decision and restores self-defense laws to what they were prior to the Barnes decision.  SB 1 passed the House by a bipartisan 67 to 26 vote and the Senate by a 38 to 12 vote.
Unfortunately, opponents of this legislation are intentionally spreading false information about SB 1 in an attempt to kill this critical legislation.  In addition, they are trying to flood the Governor’s office with e-mails and phone calls in order to convince him to veto the bill.  The Governor needs to hear your support for SB 1 today.
Again, please contact Governor Daniels immediately and respectfully urge him to sign SB 1 into law.   You can e-mail the governor by clicking here or call his office at 317-232-4567.

Governor Mitch Daniels Signs Into Law Charity Gaming Bill Benefitting Friends of NRA Banquets

Please Thank Governor Daniels for Supporting this Important Legislation

Today, Governor Mitch Daniels signed into law legislation that clarifies and simplifies the licensing and reporting process for charity gaming events, including “Friends of NRA” banquets.  Senate Bill 315 passed in the Senate unanimously and passed the House of Representatives by an overwhelming, 76-19 vote.

This legislation, authored by state Senator Randy Head (R-18) and sponsored by state Representative Mark Messmer (R-63), will streamline the licensing and reporting process for charity gaming events, such as “Friends of NRA” banquets, by:

  1. Establishing one comprehensive charity gaming license for national organizations and foundations for use by their local affiliates;
  2. Removing the current six-to-nine week application process and requiring in its place a 21-day notification to the Indiana Gaming Commission prior to an event; and
  3. Allowing qualified organizations and foundations to "police their own" by removing requirements to turn over volunteers' personal information to the Indiana Gaming Commission.

These policy changes will greatly improve the ability of “Friends of NRA” committees to comply with Indiana charitable gaming laws in a timely and less cumbersome fashion, while protecting the personal information of “Friends of NRA” volunteers.

As many NRA members well know, “Friends of NRA” banquets play a critical role in raising grant money to support education, safety, and training programs in communities across the Hoosier State, such as the Boy Scouts, 4H clubs, and local law enforcement groups. Unfortunately, some “Friends of NRA” chapters had difficulties holding banquets in 2011, which resulted in a net loss of approximately $100,000 in money that cannot be used for these Indiana groups.

The NRA appreciates Governor Mitch Daniels’ support of SB 315.  Please contact the Governor to thank him for signing SB 315 into law. You can e-mail the governor by clicking here.

Russia's future space plans

First let me apologize... I haven't done a This Week in Space for a bit... I'll do one soon, probably.

Leaked documents from the Russian space agency Roscosmos reveal what the country has planned for the next 18 years of its space program. The ambitious list includes multiple permanent research stations on Mars, probes exploring Venus and Jupiter, and a manned Moon landing.

Russia plans to send probes to Jupiter and Venus, land a network of unmanned stations on Mars and ferry Russian cosmonauts to the surface of the Moon — all by 2030.

Birls, photography, gender norms and ramblings

So as most of you likely recall... I'm almost exclusively attracted to birls (not goys, birls). Back in January I stumpled upon http://birls.tumblr.com/... well the individual that maintains it (who is hands down one of the most attractive birls with photos on the tumblr) is a photographer. I was poing around her tumblr, and then the link to her page she has on it... http://ekbphotography.ca I like her portfolio... as you can clearly see she's infinitely better than I (haha, well yeah my photog skills just flat out suck... as I've never read any books on the subject, taken any classes... etc... just fool around with my EOS Rebel)... she's probably in the top 5 of phtographers I've come upon this past year or so... anyway go check her stuff out... she's a Canuck from what I gather so I doubt any of you will need her services... but you might like her portfolio and share her and maybe someone will stumble upon them via you or I and give her some work!

Tide theft: Pricey laundry detergent makes for tempting target

This is just crazy. Flat out crazy.

Thieves seem to be embarking on an anti-grime spree, some media outlets are reporting, saying thousands of dollars in Tide detergent is being swiped from shelves across the country.

One Minnesota man stole about $25,000 worth of the liquid laundry detergent from a West St. Paul Wal-Mart over 15 months, authorities there say. Some stores, including a CVS in Prince George's County, Md., have taken to wrapping anti-theft devices around the handles of the orange bottles.

Several publications have described the thefts as a widespread crime wave, even calling the detergent "liquid gold," but law enforcement authorities and some retail operators aren’t so sure.

“National Right to Carry Reciprocity Act of 2012” introduced in U.S. Senate

Today, March 13, U.S. Senators Mark Begich (D-Alaska) and Joe Manchin (D-West Virginia) introduced S. 2188, the “National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act of 2012.”  The bill is the Senate companion to H. R. 822, which was approved by the U. S. House last November by a vote of 272-154.

S. 2188, like H.R. 822, would allow any person with a valid state-issued concealed firearm permit to carry a concealed handgun in any other state that issues concealed firearm permits, or that does not prohibit the carrying of concealed firearms for lawful purposes. A state's laws governing where concealed handguns may be carried would apply within its borders.

Today 49 states either issue carry permits or otherwise authorize law-abiding people to carry firearms outside the home for self-defense. 41 states have fair “shall issue” permit systems that allow any law-abiding person to get a permit.

In contrast to dire predictions from anti-gun groups, Right-to-Carry laws have been enormously successful.  Interstate reciprocity will serve as a fundamental protection of the right to self-defense by providing people with the ability to protect themselves not only in their home states, but anywhere they travel where carry concealed carry is legal.

Contrary to the false claims of some, these bills would not create federal gun registration or gun owner licensing, nor would they allow any federal agency to establish a federal standard for a carry permit or impose gun control restrictions of any kind.

These bills would have no effect on permitless carry laws, currently on the books in Arizona, Alaska, Wyoming and Vermont, that allow concealed carry without a permit. In addition, Vermont residents would be able to take advantage of S. 2188 and H.R. 822 by obtaining a permit from one of the many states that offer non-resident permits.

Please contact your U.S. Senators today and urge them to cosponsor S. 2188.  You can call your U.S. Senators at 202-224-3121 or send them an email by clicking here.

Bullying

The boy you punched in the hall today... committed suicide a few minutes ago. That girl you called a slut in class today, she's a virgin. The boy you called lame he works every night to support his family. That girl you pushed down the other day, she's already being abused at home. That girl you called fatm, she's starving herself. The old man you made fun of cause of the ugly scars, he fought for your freedom. The boy you made fun of for crying, his mother is dying. You think you know them. Guess what? You don't!
