Howell Contractors of Kentucky

First, this was placed in my mailbox, without postage, not in an envelope. THAT IS A CRIME. U.S. Postmaster General, please file charges.

This is unacceptable. Completely unacceptable. "Starting Monday June 18th, we will close 12th street from Winton Ave. to Allison Ave. Please have all vehicles out of drives and off the road by 8am on Monday. There will be no access to 12th from either Winton or from Allison." ok, then where the hell are we supposed to park. How the %^!# are we supposed to get to our houses? We are NOT parking our vehicles a quarter mile from the house!!! Is Howell Contractors Inc going to be manning litters to carry me back and forth to my house? They are telling me in a letter they put on my door today I can not access my street or driveway for the coming WEEKS.

Prometheus

So I saw Prometheus this past Sunday and was very disappointed. Yes it was a good movie but with all the hype and viral marketing leading up to it, it was a let down. That being said, Noomi Rapace was hands down the best part of Prometheus. Ellen Ripley and Leeloo Minaï Lekarariba-Lamina-Tchaï Ekbat De Sebat combined!

TheOatmeal

So, I just learned of this going on with the The Oatmeal. Go read about it, and give a buck or two.

Last year I wrote a blog post about another website called FunnyJunk which stole a bunch of my comics and hosted them on their website without giving me credit.  They apparently didn’t like my blog post and recently FunnyJunk sent me a letter stating that unless I pay them $20,000 in damages they’re going to file a federal lawsuit against me. You can view the letter along with my response here

Amish Money Secrets

I just saw this article on Vanguard, it's a good read and worth further investigation. Here is the quote that caught my eye skimming it...

  • First, there's Amos Miller, a 45-year-old Amish farmer, who managed to save $400,000 for a down payment on a farm. Amos and his wife Fern managed to save that much while raising their family—of 14 children.
  • Next, consider the experience of Bill O'Brien, a local banker who has issued $225 million in loans (mainly for real estate purchases) to Amish families over a 20-year career. How many of these loans have resulted in a loss for the bank? Zero. And he can count on one hand the number of Amish borrowers who have ever asked him for a loan extension or modification.
