Well where to start Dad... in 6 days it will have been 15 years since you died. Wow. Just wow. Still sucks. So last year I wrote you on March 6th, on March 30th my friend Michael took me and my friend Josh to a midget wrestling event for our birthdays at the old bowling alley on lynhurst that they turned into 8 Seconds. So we get there a few hours early and are killing time talking/eating/drinking and this pretty drunk guy comes up to the table and starts putting our empty bottles in a bucket on the table, immediately he stands out as NOT being staff. The man is dressed very nice, has a rather flashy watch on, is of eastern origin (Indian) and I notice that several feet back is another man that looks perhaps Saudi/Pakistani/maybe Israeli(Polynesian mix) is watching him like a hawk. This man puts his arm around me and starts talking to us at the table. He tells us his name is Ravi and he keeps talking to us, punching me as hard as he can in my upper right arm telling me he loves me and calling me the wrong name.

So this guy keeps hanging out at our table, some girls he knows come over and start talking to my friends, both of my friends are also talking to Derek the guy watching him while Ravi keeps chatting to me and hitting me... we go off together and walk around, eventually find our way back to my table and he says he owns a club and invites us to it. Yeah, right, and I'm a monkey's uncle... so I get out my cellular phone and I can access the internet on it, I do a search with his first name and the name of the club... ok so articles pop up and sure enough there is his photo. "Ravi Chopa owner of 6 Lounge" so we say ok we will meet you there.

We get to the club and there are 3 employees and it is empty. Oh boy, this is not good for a Friday night. We wait for him to show up and hang out with him long into the night. 2 or 3 people come in the entire night. There is this thing called social media now, big websites for it being 'facebook' and 'twitter', they are platforms on websites that allow you to share thoughts/images/whatever with friends and complete strangers. I noticed the club had some and had barely used either, these are book tools for drawing crowds so I mention he needs to use them. He tells me I'm welcome anytime and we leave for the night.

The next weekend Josh and I decide to be brave and go back, thinking we are going to be refused entry at the door. I show up, say my name and we are let right in. Ravi sees me and gets a Cheshire Cat grin and apologizes for hitting me so much the night before (Derek told him) and we are shoulder to shoulder that entire night. I talk to Ravi almost every day (In fact we went several months without missing a day of talking to each other). I'd have to say he's one of my best friends. This year has been full of experiences I never thought I'd have thanks to him. It's been a great year.

Mom's thyroid cancer looks like it's gone, I bought a level action rifle a couple of weeks ago which is neat (haven't fired it yet, big ammo scare right now and it's hard to find), my weight has gone down then back up so I'm still nowhere near where I'd like to be, I got the rotors and pads changed on the truck as well as one of the four balljoints (I have the other 3 but haven't got to it) and I hope to put the truck up and start restoring it within a year... I want to always have the truck.

That's pretty much it dad, talk to you next year and I still miss you!

High school student disarms gunman and gets suspended as a thank you

So this kid saves someone from a gunshot wound, possibly death... and they suspend him. ABSURD

 

A Florida high school student wrestled a loaded gun away from another teen on the bus ride home this week and was slapped with a suspension in return.

The 16-year-old Cypress Lake High student in Fort Myers, Fla. told WFTX-TV there was “no doubt” he saved a life after grappling for the loaded .22 caliber revolver being aimed point-blank at another student on Tuesday.

“I think he was really going to shoot him right then and there,” said the suspended student, not identified by WFTX because of safety concerns. “Not taking no pity.”

Colorado magazine ban, magpul

Magpul is doing it's best to help Colorado citizens facing a magazine ban.

 

We are proud to announce that within a matter of days we will be going live with a new program. Due to a bill currently moving through the Colorado legislature, there is the possibility that Colorado residents' ability to purchase standard capacity magazines will soon be infringed. Before that happens, and Magpul is forced to leave the state in order to keep to our principles, we will be doing our... best to get standard capacity PMAGs into the hands of any Colorado resident that wants them.

Verified Colorado residents will be able to purchase up to ten (10) standard capacity AR/M4 magazines directly from Magpul, and will be given immediate flat-rate $5 shipping, bypassing our current order queue.

Our customers outside of Colorado, please know that our PMAG production will continue at an ever-increasing rate until we do relocate, shipments to our distributors in other states will continue, and that we do not expect relocation to significantly impact PMAG production. We are also aware that Colorado is not the only state with existing or pending magazine capacity restrictions; we are working on programs for other affected states as well.

In the spring of ‘77, I left the Air Force and moved to Columbia, MO to pursue my dream of running a gun shop. You see, I’d always loved the outdoors; especially shooting and hunting. Some of my fondest childhood memories involve shooting and hunting with my dad and brothers. Then, as an adult, some of my greatest joys have come while shooting and hunting with my wife, my kids, my friends and now my grandkids. I love this industry, I love our way of life and I love serving Customers.

Now, our way of life is being challenged like never before and our Customers are responding with a flood of orders. In the 35 years I’ve been in business, I’ve never seen anything like this.

We’re monitoring the political environment, our industry’s capabilities and our business on a daily basis and making policy and process changes to better serve Customers. But please understand, while we’re still able to get most orders out the same day they’re placed, you may experience longer than normal wait times on the phone or when you chat with us on the web. Also, it’s taking us a few extra days to respond to emails. Finally, we’re out of a bunch of products I know you want which breaks my heart. And when we do get them in, they rarely spend the night in the building because they’re ordered almost immediately. We’re tirelessly working to get products in the door and out to Customers as fast as we can. But, until supply catches up with demand, we’re having to limit quantities and backorders on certain products.

One thing we haven’t done is change our prices because of this surge in demand. Prices do change from time to time as they always have, but we’d never change prices because of something like this. Our pricing strategy is one of the reasons we’ve put quantity limits on certain products. We’ve all seen certain products selling two or three times higher than normal, and MidwayUSA doesn’t want to enable that type of activity. Also, we want to serve as many Customers as possible when we receive high-demand products. If it’s any consolation, none of our Employees can order products with quantity limits (myself included).

We’ve all agreed to put Customers first. And that’s the way it’ll always be at MidwayUSA.

Policy Update for State and Local Agency Law Enforcement Sales:

In response to the recent and numerous new Anti-gun/Anti-2nd Amendment laws passed and/or pending across our country, Crusader Weaponry has been forced to reconsider the sale of products to state and local agencies in those states.

Effective immediately, in an effort to see that all sales are legal, Crusader Weaponry and/or its employees, will apply all current State and Local Laws (as applied to civilians) to the local law enforcement / government agencies of those states. This means that if the citizens of any given state are no longer able to legally own our firearms we will not sell to any local/state/governmental law enforcement agency in that state.

State and local laws have always been a serious concern of Crusader Weaponry. We can not, in good conscience, arm governmental agencies in states that infringe on the constitutional rights of their residents.

N.Y. bill would force gun owners to buy at least $1M in insurance

Oh look another attack on 2nd amendment rights! New York is trying to pass a bill that would require firearm owners to carry 1 million dollars in liability insurance, basically a tax for firearm owners costing 1600-2000 dollars a year.

 

A bill introduced in the New York State Assembly by Assemblyman Felix Ortiz, a Democrat, would require the state’s residents to acquire liability insurance as a condition for gun ownership.

“Any person in this state who shall own a firearm shall, prior to such ownership, obtain and continuously maintain a policy of liability insurance in an amount not less than one million dollars specifically covering any damages resulting from any negligent or willful acts involving the use of such firearm while it is owned by such person,” the measure, dubbed S2353, reads.

 

Liability insurance for $1 million in coverage for gun owners is estimated to cost between $1,600 and $2,000 annually, the Examiner reports.
